The Eagle – Gipfelrestaurant Kreischberg

Idea

For a long time, the summit plateau of Kreischberg was occupied by a small, almost provisional-looking structure with an oversized umbrella serving as an après-ski bar. When the building was dismantled, there was, for a moment, a sense that the landscape had reclaimed its original terrain.

This experience became a defining influence on the design approach for the new building: set within an exceptionally beautiful alpine environment, the architecture should not dominate its surroundings, but instead be understood as a precisely placed addition to the landscape—restrained in its presence, yet strong in its spatial impact.
